ARTEMI Staff Scientist Visit to Uppsala University

The ARTEMI team meeting was hosted at the Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala University, on 19-20 November 2025. The first day focused on presentations highlighting ongoing transmission electron microscopy activities at Uppsala University. Topics included cryo-TEM studies of protein membrane degradation mechanisms, the application of artificial intelligence in TEM image analysis, and recent advances in electron energy-loss magnetic chiral dichroism (EMCD). Additional discussions covered practical applications of the CEOS energy filter imaging device, including EFTEM, EELS, and 4D-STEM, as well as in-house capabilities for both generic and application-specific electron microscopy sample preparation using focused-ion beam techniques. The second day was dedicated to hands-on laboratory demonstrations using the Crossbeam 550 and Titan Themis 200 microscopes. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for in-depth technical discussions, knowledge exchange, and practical insights. We thank all participants for their active engagement, many stimulating questions and shared experiences throughout the meeting.
